Little Boy Hair

I was probably between the age of 7 & 8 when my parents bought a home haircut kit at Sears Roebuck and Dad began cutting mine and my 2 brothers hair. He gave us very short butch haircuts at first and then every year just as soon as Spring came anywhere near/thru the summer. In between we got regular haircuts but the hair was still kept real short! Prior to this I had what I call a regular little boy's haircut and received my haircuts at a barbershop.

I look upon this event as getting my little boy hair cut off, I liked it! Voila, instant affinity for short hair and getting my hair cut. (No more little boy...)

This all occurred around the year 1964 when males were first coming into long hair. All the boys at school had or wanted long hair. I felt weird because I actually liked my hair short and having it cut. Dad continued cutting my hair until I objected around the age of 13 or 14, said I didn't want crewcuts anymore. I since have wished that I had let him keep cutting my hair. After this I went to barbershops again for haircuts, and eventually did let my hair grow long. But always secretly wanted it cut short again.
